CAMPUS RO, Rosenheim, Germany

Contemporary, sustainable students’ residences at CAMPUS RO

Sustainable living was the guiding principle of the Campus RO project, a 80,000 square metre students’ residence complex in Rosenheim in Bavaria, Germany. As a testimony to the holistic design approach that was taken, this is the first students’ residence in Germany to be awarded a platinum certificate by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).

A total of 211 residential units – including single, shared apartments, family-friendly and barrier-free apartments – are available here. As well as applying an innovative hybrid timber frame method, the project planners also focussed their attention on achieving a high quality of life for the residents. The new residences formed part of a regeneration project at a former industrial site. The new buildings were constructed to meet the requirements of the German Reconstruction Loan Corporation’s ‘KfW40+’ sustainability class. The use of suitable recycled construction materials was a deliberate goal of the project.

The project clients and contractors placed great emphasis on cooperation with partners from the region around Rosenheim – for example, the timber used originated from Bavaria and Austria, while the electricity consumed is generated by the photovoltaic system installed on the roof of the project!

Impressions of the construction work

SOLITEX ADHERO 3000 initially serves as weather protection during the construction phase, but also remains in place permanently as part of the airtightness layer. The in-situ concrete for the timber-concrete composite floor slab can then be poured directly on top of this.

SOLITEX ADEHRO 3000 is also used to protect cut edges and exposed ends.

To speed up construction on site, the SOLITEX ADEHRO 3000 weathering-protection membrane was pre-installed onto the timber elements in the workshop.
